Festival Winds is a non-auditioned wind ensemble for emerging woodwind, brass and percussion students. Festival Winds is designed to challenge and develop younger music students with new music and new skills.
Type of Ensemble: Festival Winds is a wind ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussion students through grade 8. All students must have at least one year of playing experience and the ability to read music is required.

Rehearsals and Performances: Rehearsals take place each Monday night September through May in the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University. There are periodic breaks scheduled that generally follow the public school academic calendar. Season schedules are made available to families each summer. Festival Winds three to four times per year depending on the season. Performances typically take place at either Oklahoma City University or the Performing Arts Theatre at Oklahoma City Community College.
Auditions: Auditions are NOT REQUIRED for Festival Winds. Students may enroll beginning in May for the following season.
Family Discounts of 15% are also available for households with more than one student participating in OKYO ensembles.
***Test Drive Festival Winds before committing to the full year. Students enrolling in Festival Winds may attend rehearsals in September and October without a financial commitment. Payment of Membership Dues will be required by November 1.***
What to Bring to Rehearsal: Students should bring their instruments, necessary accessories, a music stand, music and a pencil to each rehearsal.
