Mark Osborn

Conductor, Festival Strings Norman

Mark Osborn currently teaches 5th grade beginning strings at Adams, Kennedy, McKinley, Reagan, and Truman Elementary Schools. He is also a team teacher with Norman North, Norman High and in the Middle Schools. Mr. Osborn earned his Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also performs in the bass section with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, Oklahoma Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and Lawton Philharmonic. He was a founding member of the Festival Strings in 1983 and a member of OYO from 1984-1988.

He is the co-founder of the OK Bass Bash, a bass camp that meets each summer for Middle School and High School students. For more information go to okbassbash.com. Mr. Osborn was the Double Bass Instructor at the University of Oklahoma from 2002- 2006. In 2001 Mr. Osborn was chosen as the Teacher Fellow for the Kennedy Center. He was able to study with members of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C. He was a member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for three seasons. He has also participated in summer festivals at Waterloo, NJ; Chautauqua, NY; Hot Springs, AR; and Interlochen, MI.

In his spare time he enjoys fishing and spending time with his two daughters and wife in Norman, OK where they reside.
