Dr. Alex Lee

Conducting Candidate, Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic

Dr. Alex Lee is a conductor known for his musical energy and heartfelt passion for teaching. He is Professor of Music and Director of Orchestra at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), where he loves guiding and inspiring young musicians. Under his leadership, the SWOSU Symphony Orchestra has been invited twice to perform at the OkMEA Music Educators Conference.

In the past, Dr. Lee shared his love of music with the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra, leading students in concerts and tours alongside groups such as the Chamberlain Ballet and renowned guest soloists. He is also a sought-after clinician, working with middle and high school students to prepare them for contests, auditions, and their next steps as musicians.

Dr. Lee has conducted across the United States, Europe, and Asia, including ensembles such as the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, and New Japan Philharmonic. A prize winner and finalist in several international conducting competitions, he earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas.

At home, Dr. Lee is equally dedicated—as a husband, father of three, and proud cat owner. His love for music and family is reflected in his work with students, both on and off the stage.
